One required for manual transmission cars, two required for automatic transmission cars. If installing on an automatic, remove only one differential adjusting nut at a time. If you remove both, you will lose your ring gear backlash adjustment. For either transmission type, mark the position of the differential adjusting nut relative to the case before removing, and re-establish this position upon installation.
