JACK HANDLE BAG

Though this part was listed in the factory parts manual, there is no record of them ever being produced. The factory engineering drawing looks exactly like the parts manual illustration, so we made up a couple samples. They looked like a caterpillar all scrunched up around the angular jack handle.

Since it doesn't have a really good place to store it in the car - it's a super-tight fit in the area behind the grille where the jack is stored and neither does it fit well anywhere under the trunk carpet - we then experimented with a couple different alternative designs of our own (it's great to have an in-house upholstery department). Our goal was to create something that would protect the jack handle, but mostly to keep it from damaging the interior of the luggage compartment as it slides around.

This was the one that we found looked and functioned the best. Fitted to the unique shape of the late-style jack handle found in most DeLoreans, we added a Velcro closure to keep it in place within this newly designed sleeve / storage bag.
