SHIFT BOOT W/METAL BRACKET

IMPROVED FOR 2025!

The DeLorean's original factory shift boot had a flimsy plastic frame to which the leather boot was glued. And some glue it was, too. It would hold even as the leather shrank, so much so that it would bend and eventually break the plastic frame, causing the boot to flop around.

Over the last four-plus decades in the DeLorean business we've seen lots of attempts at reproducing this part. Our part starts with a 2mm+ thick, heavy-duty zinc-plated steel frame assembly (stainless is only useful in this instance if you're parking your DeLorean in two feet of water - which, of course, we don't recommend).

The leather we use is hand-selected for quality by our in-house upholstery person who sews every one of these. A stickler for detail, she understands the desire for an original appearance, so these are sewn using the factory-correct double-top row stitched seams and not the cheaper, incorrect, top-stitched seams.

 

On top of all that, another thing that makes our shift boot stand head and shoulders above any others we've seen is the metal insert collar that we fit to each, making a secure, snug fit right up against the shift knob a breeze to accomplish.

Finally, we adhere the shift boot to the frame, using an appropriate upholstery glue to ensure a long-lasting complete shift boot for your DeLorean!
